> PREPARED AND CONDITIONED FROM BIRTH Your puppy has been conditioned and prepared from birth for what lays ahead. Body stroking and handling from day one and when their little eyes and ears are fully open at around two weeks of age, their visual and audio senses are stimulated with the nursery’s puppy TV/music and toys.
> CRATE TRAINED AND DE-SENSITIZED TO NOISE. At the appropriate age, between seven and nine weeks old, your puppy is also carefully conditioned and prepared through crate training, and socialization and by the time your puppy leaves here, everything is old hat!

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE WITH YOUR PUPPY - THE STONY BROOK DIFFERENCE Puppies are all born with different personalities just as humans are. STONY BROOK recognizes that the dog which could be perfect for your neighbor may be disastrous for you! Stony Brook carries out temperament testing and
character analysis on each puppy in order to select your most ideal companion. In order to do this more effectively, we provide an Application. It is important to complete this form fully and to answer EVERY question.
Once we are all feeling comfortable and you would like to move forward, you can fill in the form. A happy owner is a happy puppy with a permanent home for life and this is always our deepest commitment both to you and to the puppy. Please know that STONY BROOK puppies can be HELD/RESERVED before they are born. The more flexible you are with your preferences in gender, color and coat, the more quickly you will move to the top of the waiting list. Waiting time can sometimes be several months so if you are planning on your puppy at a future time, it will be wise to make your booking well ahead of time in order to receive your new family member in the preferred time frame.
WE’RE READY! WE WANT A STONY BROOK LABRADOODLE WHAT DO WE DO NOW?
Step One Fill out the Application sent to you attached to the informational email or go to our website’s HOME page and click on “Puppy Application”.
Step Two Fill in EVERY question, and state your PREFERENCES IN ORDER. If you are a little flexible on gender or color for example, it is likely that we will match a puppy to your needs much sooner than someone who is very specific in all of their requirements.
For instance, Color. IF YOU INDICATE ONLY ONE COLOR then you will NOT be offered a puppy until that color is available. But if you indicate several colors in order of preference, you will be offered a puppy in any of the colors you have indicated, as soon as one is available. You can then choose whether to accept that puppy, or to wait until your top preference is available, the same applies with gender. If you do not indicate that you are negotiable on gender, you will only be contacted when a puppy matching the gender you indicated becomes available and you may have missed out on several puppies in the process and so on.
Step Three When you are satisfied that you have fully completed the application form, you
should sign that you understand that the reservation fee of $500.00 which is deducted from the full price but is not refundable.
A Venmo, or PayPal(3% convenience fee) payment is the quickest way to hold a puppy.
You can also send a check made out to John D. Castleman although I do have to wait until your check clears the bank before I can promise a puppy is held for you. Any fees we are charged by our bank because of insufficient funds will be charged to you and Venmo, or PayPal(3% fee).
I’VE FILLED IN MY FORM AND SUBMITTED IT AND PAID MY NON- REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT FEE. NOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
> You will be notified that your Application has been processed and that you are officially on the Stony Brook waiting list. CONGRATULATIONS!!! > Photos, videos and sometimes FaceTime of the puppies that we are specifically looking at for your family will be sent to you weekly or more frequently. This means that you will have the fun of watching the puppies grow! We encourage you to pick a name so we can begin calling your puppy by his/her name as soon as possible. > Puppies are generally allocated at around 6 weeks of age. Upon acceptance of this puppy you will be sent a Contract of Sale & Warranty with instructions on how to pay the balance. The final allocations are done at the completion of character assessment and temperament testing at/ around six to seven weeks of age. Then you know that you have another week or two to prepare for your new baby’s arrival. When we think that we have a puppy who was born to be yours, we will email or text you with the good news. If you are purchasing an older puppy, once we receive your application and wish list and we have allocated which puppy will be yours, STONY BROOK will work out the details with you on the pick up date or the shipping/delivery date of your puppy.
ANOTHER STONY BROOK DIFFERENCE - WE UNDERSTAND HOW EXCITED AND ANXIOUS YOU MAY BE AROUND THIS TIME. UPDATES WILL COME TO KEEP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FEELING INVOLVED. IT’S SUCH FUN TO GET TEXTS and/or EMAILS FROM YOUR OWN PUPPY!
> During this time I will email or text you with updates on what is happening with your puppy, so that you are involved with the puppy's progress.
> If the timing is not convenient for you, then you may defer to another litter and you will remain at the top of the waiting list. > When the time is drawing near for your puppy to come to you, you will be invoiced the difference between your booking fee/deposit and the balance of the total price including delivery fee. Additional fees for boarding and/or training will be paid 1/2 at beginning of the boarding/training and 1/2 at the end of the term agreed upon in writing.
